West Career And Technical Academy

The Clark County school district in Las Vegas, NV area has opened a fine new school named West Career And Technical Academy (WCTA). This school will provide exceptional courses for grades 9 thru 12. The school will have two academies: the Medical Science Academy and the Environmental, Engineering and Technical Academy.

There are a total of nine programs at the WCTA. These programs include The Medical Science Academy and the Environmental, Engineering and Technical Academy. These separate academies provide a very broad spectrum of classes that will aid their students into selecting career paths with an excellent foundation to courses of higher learning when the students head off for college.

The Medical Science Academy contains Veterinary and Medical Sciences, Biotechnology, Nursing and Sports Medicine. Any career connected with medicine will benefit from the excellent programs. It is anticipated that a good number of their students will continue on into various levels of medical practice. There aren't many schools that provide programs in Veterinary or Sports medicine below the college level and West Career And Technical Academy is very proud of these programs.

The Environmental, Engineering and Technical Academy contains five programs including Environmental Sciences & Natural Resources, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Business Management & Health Care Administration, Computer Animation, and Management Information Systems (MIS).

Being a new school West Career And Technical Academy chooses to provide not just basic educational classes but instead wants to be one of the premier schools for producing Science and Medical professionals that will eventually cover the breath of this country.

The initial qualified students were selected during a district lottery process. This selection process will continue to ensure only the best qualified students in the district are brought into the programs offered at West Career And Technical Academy. While there are no NIAA sports teams, there are extensive intramural, clubs, and activities for WCTA students. Students that want to be involved in NIAA sports teams can apply at their home school in the district.

This school is also very proud of the staff they have put in place. The students will receive the benefits of the mastery of the subjects these teachers bring to the classroom.
